So to my surprise it's not open world! It's mission based! All loot and exp is tallied at the end of each mission, where you are free to choose side quests, upgrade & buy gear and supplies, or move on to the next story mission. It's VERY much along the lines of Bayonetta & MGS:R.

The fighting system is a cross between DMC and a Musou/Warriors game. Lots of enemies, paths blocked until you finish a specified number of waves, treasures to find, weapons to unlock and upgrade. There are a lot of SOLID things working together to make PLAYING this a good time.

For some reason what everyone remembersis the game's performance can be terrible. Most of the time? Fluid & quick, but fight a big enemy w/magic or explosions & the frame rate drops hard. But its fine, we move on to why we're really here...

We're here for the STORY! It's layered w/crass jokes & relationships that would make a sailor blush, paired with deeply emotional pleas & soul-bearing soliloquies. Its complicated & humane w/regards to characters while staying ULTRA violent & highly cinematic. It's fucking great.

I finished the first branch this AM. I'm hooked! So excited to see the rest of this story, unlock & update every weapon, get all endings. It's exciting. I'll update as I do, I'm going to take my time. Thanks to this LP for the screens!

This am I finished Branch C & am loving the evolution of the story. It's like one of those paper fortune tellers, revealing important bits while also folding back over itself.
The combat still feels great, but I wish I had more weapons unlocked already, i need more gold!

Enough complaining. Here’s the plan, moving forward.
🟩 Collect all chests in all levels
🟩 Get all weapons from all disciples
🟩 Farm gold, buy rest of weapons
🟩 Wish I had a PS Vita
🟩 Farm MORE gold because I’ll probably want to upgrade everything
