Now, I've never played a single .HACK game, nor do I know anything about Naruto, but the devs for AW primarily make those games. Its such a wacky track record, too. They also made Solatorobo so thats something. Apparently those in charge loved God Hand so much, they made AW.

Combat is snappy with light/heavy, counters, special moves & shooting mechs. I have a few issues but for the most part its a balls-to-the-wall action. When you do enough damage, your angry meter fills up & you get REAL angry, then kill everything in a QTE cutscene. Its so good

I never realized this game was formatted like an anime with bumpers, episodes & arcs. It also treats health in a cool way, refilling after each checkpoint. if you were to die & continue you'd have full health anyway, so just cut to the chase. Its a game that respects your time.

It's also just FUCKING BONKERS. A god plunges his sword through your chest and into the earth and it comes out the other side! A giant god tries to crush you with his finger and you STOP HIM. The planet tries to KILL YOU. And you have a best friend! His soundtrack fucking rules.

Its so fun. There was a story arc that was done in such a way that it made me put my control down and reflect. Slow motion, black and white, it has STYLE and it knows how and when to use it. Go play this if you haven't. Play it again even if you have. Find all the peeping toms!
